4 Best Ways to Clean Your Diamonds

Diamonds have very specific characteristics that make them stand out. The four C’s of the diamonds such as clarity, carat, color, and cut are indeed the best ways to keep that diamond piece that you own at its best. However diamonds just like any other substance can get soiled up, dirty, or chipped. The makeup we wear such as lotions, soaps, or natural body oils can create an unwanted film on GIA certified diamonds and make them loose their brilliance. Other chemicals within the atmosphere can also oxidize the diamonds and in turn discolor the mountings. Therefore cleaning your diamonds in these four main ways will indeed maximize its brilliance.

Use of Ultrasonic Cleaner

Ultrasonic cleaners clean with high frequency sound waves that are usually in a liquid solution. These machines are today readily available. They will clean your heart shaped loose diamond jewelry within minutes, using a metal cup that is always filled with water and detergent and once the machine is switched on a high frequency turbulence is created that will in turn wash your jewelry.

Detergent Bath

This will prove helpful as a home remedy. It simply requires you to take a small quantity of warm water with any mild household liquid detergent. However ensure that the detergent you use doesn’t contain chlorine as this has destructive effects on diamonds. Take a brush and brush the EGL certified loose diamonds gently until it lathers. Then rinse it off with warm water and dry it with a lint-free cloth.

Use of Steam Cleaner

Steam cleaners also use high pressure steam to clean your diamond. Once you have taken the jewelry to the cleaner, the jewelry will be exposed to hot steam that is usually released with high pressure. This steam will in turn clean the marquise cut diamond piece and leave it with its original luster.

Liquid Jewelry Cleaners

Also called the quick-dip method, this cleaning option requires you to buy a liquid jewel cleaner that best suits your kind of jewelry and its components. Then follow the labeled instructions to clean your jewel appropriately.
